The Hair Lounge Does Escape To The Chateau

“Katie is one of my really close friends, we met at school at school friends from being 11, I was invited as a guest to her wedding and she was originally  going to have a French hairdresser but there was no chance I was going to let that happen, she’s had enough bad hair do’s from me when I was training years ago that I only felt it right that I paid her back by helping her to look amazing on her big day.

This wasn’t your average summer wedding… It was at Escape to the Chateau with Dick and Angel!  They did everything, and were truly amazing hosts! The TV programme does not even do these guys justice, the whole place is absolutely stunning and the process is so slick!

I was there right from the start, it was such a lovely experience Dick & Angel do so much themselves. There are some staff behind the scenes but not many! Angel makes the flowers herself and Dick does the food and the ceremony. It was the personal touches by Angel that make it special, for example everyone had a napkin at the table with the name stitched in it. It was beautiful!

They managed to make it feel as relaxed as being at home. Only difference is we aren’t in Oldham, we are in a huge, beautiful chateau in France!

All morning spectators were turning up to look and see what was going on, it was surreal but felt very special.

I had no brief for the hair, she just said she didn’t want to look like a traditional bride, so no up do! This kind of the thing is typical in the hairdressing industry, we get a vague idea from the client and then we use our creativity and experience to develop the style. It was easy in this case for me as I knew Katie so well and know all about her likes and dislike. It’s more difficult when the client is new! The wedding was going to be really laid back and relaxed so I went for soft waves and curls and gentle flow. I did the brides, the bridesmaid and the mother of the bride!

In the end, the ceremony had to be inside because it rained, and then sods law 2 minutes after the ceremony the sun came out.

We ate in the orangery then move the tables and danced the night away in there till late.

We were told that this wedding was in the top 3 of the most alcohol drunk in the series!  Result!!!! We had an amazing time and it felt so special to have been so involved.”
